Dr. Joy earned his bachelors degree from the Massachusetts Institue of Technology.  He attended medical school at the University of Vermont College of Medicine.  He entered active military service in the United States Army upon graduation and rose to the rank of  Lieutenant Colonel before resuming civilian life after twelve years of service.  Dr. Joy completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington.  He served for three years as an internist at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC.  He pursued his General Cardiology training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and completed a fourth year of training inElectrophysiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Electrophysiology.  He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
